About This Notice

This Privacy Notice explains what ScientiaMobile Inc. (“ScientiaMobile,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) does with information processed in connection with the Online Image Optimizer at onlineimageoptimizer.com (the “Service”).

ScientiaMobile Inc. is a corporation incorporated in the State of Delaware, USA, with principal offices at 12110 Sunset Hills Road, Suite 600, Reston, VA 20190, USA. Use of the Service is also subject to our Terms of Service.

The Service has no accounts, no login, and no registration. We do not ask you for your name, your email address, or any other contact detail, and we have no way to associate a submitted image with a named individual.

1. What the Service Processes

1.1 The Image You Submit

When you upload an image, or ask the Service to retrieve one from a URL you supply, we receive the image file and its filename. The file is stored only for as long as needed to deliver your optimized versions and is then deleted automatically — see Section 3.

An image may itself contain information about you or others: it may depict identifiable people, and photographs frequently carry embedded metadata (EXIF) recording the location where the photograph was taken and the camera used. By default the Service removes this embedded metadata from every image it returns. The interface offers an option to retain it, which is off unless you turn it on.

We do not analyse the content of your image. We do not run recognition of faces, objects, places or text against it. We do not use it to train anything. We do not sell it, and we do not share it with anyone other than the delivery infrastructure described in Section 4.

1.2 Device Information

The Service loads WURFL.js, ScientiaMobile's device detection library, which processes standard HTTP request headers — principally the User-Agent string and, on supported browsers, UA Client Hints. These describe your browser and device in general terms: device type, manufacturer, model, operating system and screen properties.

We use this to adapt the interface to your device, for example to offer clipboard pasting on a desktop computer but not on a phone, and to send fewer and smaller image versions to a phone than to a desktop. This is a core function of the Service, which exists in part to demonstrate device-adaptive behaviour.

1.3 IP Address

Our infrastructure and our content delivery network receive your IP address as an ordinary part of serving any request over the internet. We use it for security, fraud detection and invalid traffic prevention, at the address level rather than to identify an individual. Section 3 describes how these logs are handled.

1.4 Storage in Your Browser

The Service registers a service worker and stores its own interface files in your browser so that the page loads quickly and works offline. This storage holds application files, not information about you. You can clear it at any time through your browser's settings for this site.

2. What We Do Not Do

3. Retention

Submitted and generated images are deleted automatically after a short period. This happens on its own and needs nothing from you. Copies may persist in content delivery network caches, and in your own browser cache, for a period after that deletion.

Server and delivery logs may include IP addresses and technical information about each request. We use these logs for security, fraud detection, invalid traffic prevention, and the operation and improvement of the Service. We do not use this information to identify individual visitors.

We do not create user accounts and we do not maintain user profiles. We do not use IP addresses or other technical request information to identify individual visitors, we do not use persistent identifiers to track visitors from one visit to the next, and we do not set out to construct a history of any individual’s use of the Service.

4. Third Parties

The Service depends on the following parties. Each is described with what it receives and why.

5. Cookies and Similar Technologies

ScientiaMobile sets no cookies of its own on the Service, and uses no analytics of its own. Cookies may be set by Google in connection with advertising, as described in Section 4. Where required by applicable law, consent for such cookies is requested before they are set, and you may change or withdraw that choice at any time. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, which will not prevent you from using the Service.

6. Children

The Service is not directed to children and we do not knowingly process information relating to a child. Do not submit images of children unless you have the right to do so.

7. Security

Submissions are transmitted over encrypted connections. Stored images are held at addresses that include a randomly generated, unguessable component and are deleted automatically. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and the Service should not be used for images whose disclosure would cause harm.

8. Changes to This Notice

We may update this Notice by posting a new version at this address, with a revised version number and date.
